We collect personal information directly from you wherever practicable — for example, when you complete a booking or needs assessment, correspond with us, or use the Website. We will only collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act) with your consent and where it is reasonably necessary for our Services. If you provide us with personal information about another person (such as an emergency contact), you must ensure you are entitled to do so and that they are aware of this Privacy Policy.
2. Payment information
To provide our Services, we may ask you to provide bank account or card details, to us or to our third-party payment provider(s). These details are used to process payments for our Services and any applicable charges (for example veterinary costs, council fees, or rebooking charges), and to process any refunds, as set out in our Terms and Conditions.
We use your account and card details only to process payments through our payment provider(s), and we do not store full card numbers on our own systems except as permitted by law and applicable payment-security standards.

(b) respond to your enquiries and manage your bookings and account;
(c) understand your and your dog’s needs and improve our Services;
(d) keep internal records and meet our legal and insurance obligations;
(e) send you service communications, and — where permitted — marketing about our products, services and offers; and

We may contact you by telephone, email, SMS or mail. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time (see clause 4). We retain your personal information only for as long as it is needed for these purposes, or as required by law, after which we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
4. Direct marketing
Where we send you direct marketing, we will always give you a simple way to opt out, and every commercial electronic message will include an unsubscribe facility. To opt out, use the unsubscribe link in any message or contact us using the details in clause 11. We do not use or disclose sensitive information for direct marketing, and we do not sell your personal information.
5. Controlling and accessing your personal information
Providing your personal information to us is your choice, though we may be unable to provide some Services without it.
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, at any time by contacting us using the details in clause 11. We will respond within a reasonable time. We may decline a request for access or correction in the limited circumstances permitted by the Privacy Act, and if we do, we will tell you why in writing.
We rely in part on you keeping us informed when your personal information changes. If you believe any information we hold is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, please let us know and we will take reasonable steps to correct it.
6. Disclosure of personal information
We may disclose your personal information:
(a) to our team members, contractors and sub-contractors who care for your dog or who help us provide our Services;
(b) to your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary provider, where needed for your dog’s welfare;
(c) to our professional advisers, payment providers and other service providers, under appropriate confidentiality and privacy obligations;
(d) to credit reporting bodies, courts, tribunals and regulatory or law-enforcement authorities, where a client fails to pay, as required by law, or to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights; and
(e) to a prospective purchaser of our business or assets, in connection with an actual or proposed sale or transfer, where we have sought to maintain confidentiality.
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Australia. Before disclosing personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs, except where an exception under the Privacy Act applies. By providing us with personal information, you consent to these disclosures.
7. Security and data breaches
We take reasonable physical, electronic and managerial steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
No information transmitted over the internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and any transmission is at your own risk. However, in the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will act in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme in Part IIIC of the Privacy Act, including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where required.
8. Cookies and website analytics
When you use the Website, we may collect information about your device, such as your IP address and browser, which does not usually identify you personally. We do this using cookies — small files placed on your device — and similar technologies such as web beacons, to analyse website traffic, understand which pages are useful, and improve the Website.
Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can usually change your settings to decline them. Declining cookies may prevent you from using some features of the Website. Where we use third-party analytics tools, those providers handle data under their own privacy terms.
9. Links to other websites
The Website may contain links to other websites or resources. We do not control those sites, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their availability, content or privacy practices. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit through a link from ours.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time at our discretion. The current version will always be available on the Website, and your continued use of the Website and our Services following any change indicates your acceptance of it.
11. Contact us and complaints
All questions, requests and complaints about your personal information should be sent to us at [email protected].
If you believe we have breached the APPs, please contact us with the details, and we will investigate and respond in writing, usually within 28 days, setting out the outcome and any steps we propose to take. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
